Artists inspirations
I have an ongoing theme running through my paintings, "The human race on the edge". Obviously a play on words which probably comes from my childhood spent each summer in a caravan at Ballyferris in Northern Ireland. But also as a reference to the fragility of existence, however solid and sophisticated it may appear. So the sea paintings have a conceptual meaning behind them, as do the coastal edge paintings. Some reference comes from the early renaissance painters using man in boat in sea as a symbol of the human spirit battling against all that life can throw at it.
Other interests are painting Icons in the Eastern Orthodox style and life drawing.
